Abbaye de la Fille-Dieu

The Cistercian Abbey of Notre-Dame de la Fille-Dieu is located east of Romont, at the foot of the mound that gave its name to the city.

Marguerite Bays has maintained a very strong bond with the community of the Sisters of the Girl God. She liked to go there to pray, she received the Bishop's authorization to live the annual retreat at the end of the year with the nuns. Her godchild, Alphonsine Menétrey, for whom she had asked God in her heart for the grace of religious vocation on the baptismal font, will enter as a postulant on September 8, 1865, the anniversary of Margarita's 50th birthday.
Alphonsine took the name of Sister Lutgarde and was named Abbess of the Abbey on December 23rd 1886.
