Way of the Cross

The way of the cross and the meditation of the Passion according to the Holy Scriptures permeate the whole of Margaret's life. In the contemplation of this mystery, she found consolation and courage, always guided by the heavenly light of Holy Love, since the cross is the golden key that opens Heaven to us.

Here we touch on one of the essential mysteries of the life of faith: Christ, from the height of the cross, at the height of His suffering, offers His forgiveness to His executioners and invites God the Father to join Him in this process: "Father, forgive them...". Forgiving one another remains the sine qua non for entering into Easter clarity.

Every day in her room, or sometimes in the church at Siviriez, Saint Margaret meditated on the Way of the Cross. All interiority, she contemplated the silence of the Way of the Cross, because the Way of the Cross is first of all a way of silence which favours the interior life.

Inspired by the Holy Spirit, and sent by her confessor, Marguerite prayed a Way of the Cross at the Abbey of the Daughter of God, for the repose of the soul of the mother of her goddaughter. At the end of the meditation, Saint Margaret joyfully embraced her goddaughter, Mother Lutgarde, and said to her. "Now be at peace, have no more worries; your mother is in Heaven" (Summ p. 230)
